Please see below to check if it is an issue with your battery or your calculator:

Step 1: If you are using a wall charger, make sure you are using the TI wall charger that came with your calculator

Step 2: Verify the USB cable is completely pushed into the calculator and confirm it is a tight fit. If it is not completely pushed in, the calculator will not charge or be detected by the computer

Step 3: Switch the USB cable to a different USB port on the computer. If using a Desktop computer and USB ports in the front of the computer, try switching to a USB port located on the back of the computer.

Please Note: USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports are compatible and appear very similar. However, there are differences. Texas Instruments recommends using a USB 2.0 port for connectivity between handheld and computer.

Step 4: Check the reset button on the back of your handheld and make sure it is not pressed. If it is, use a solid object such as a paper clip to make sure it is no longer pressed. It is very important to not use an object that can leave behind debris, such as a pencil.

Step 5: Remove the battery door from the back of your handheld, disconnect the TI Rechargeable Battery, then reconnect it. Ensure that the connector is pushed in all the way and that the wires are not trapped or pinched by the battery door.

Step 6: Remove the battery from your handheld and connect the handheld to the computer with the USB cable. If your calculator is able to turn on without the battery, that is an indicator that you need to replace your battery.

Step 7: If you have access to another TI-Nspire rechargeable battery with a charge, install that battery and update your handheld's operating system. Instructions for updating the operating system can be found here.
